The concession
Steenberg is set on the oldest farm in Cape Town, established in 1682. It features excellent Cape Dutch architecture and sits in the picturesque landscape of the Constantiaberg Amphitheatre of the Table Mountain range. Besides the 5-star hotel, Steenberg features two upscale restaurants (Bistro Sixteen82 and Catharina’s), a working winery, a spa and an 18-hole golf course. Steenberg is 20 minutes form the heart of Cape Town, and is also a great location from which to explore more of the Cape. The Cape Peninsula, with working harbours, penguins, surfer packed beaches, and Cape of Good Hope section of Table Mountain National Park, is nearby. Inland, there are the winelands, fynbos and mountains to explore.
The seasons
The Cape region is beautiful all year, but different seasons offer different features. The whale season is June to December, usually peaking around September. Many fynbos flowers also bloom from August to November. Winter in the Cape can be cold and rainy from June to August.
What Steenberg costs
There are a range of options at Steenberg starting from ~$200 per person sharing for a standard room to $1200 for the heritage suites.
The good news
Steenberg is frequently recognized with awards for dining, accommodation and wine.
