Best of Luangwa July 2018

Hides of South Luangwa: Join October Workshop

David Rogers is delighted to offer 2 premier trips during the high season in South Luangwa National Park. It’s a time when its still reasonably cool but the game viewing and landscapes are outstanding. The highlights of Luangwa at this time are

  • outstanding landscapes
  • very comfortable temperatures
  • dry conditions allowing for excellent game viewing.
  • wonderful birding in the shrinking lagoons

Trip 1 | 16 – 21 July 2018 – 3 nights Tena Tena and 3 nights Kaingo — a glittering combination.  Tena is famed for its wonderful style and access to the stunning Nsefu Sector. Kaingo is the premier photographers destination on account of its hides and fantastic forests. The cost is $7300 per person. There is a single supplement of $870. Please note that this is based on 4 people travelling together and sharing the costs of private guiding and private vehicles. Photographers wishing to experience this wonderful itinerary privately with David Rogers may do so at an additional premium. For an unguided itinerary sharing game activities this itinerary costs $5900 applies with an additional single supplement.

Trip 2 | 23 – 29 July we are also offering a 6 night trip to Tafika in the Nsefu Sector directly afterwards.  $6580 per person. This wonderful family owned lodge is in a great area of the park. In addition to hides, great guiding and fantastic food you can explore by mountain bike with owner John Coppinger. If you wish to do this trip at other times in July and without a guided trip we can offer this same trip for $5580 per person sharing. The trip has also been priced for SADC residents so contact us for more information.

These Best of Zambia trips are based on premium season pricing. We also run trips during February (the Emerald Season) and November (the Predator season) which offer quite different experiences of this wonderful valley. The Emerald Season trip is also called the River Journey as we follow this magnificent river for 40 kilometres upstream into an area that is inaccessible at other times of year. Predator viewing is also excellent at this time and the birding is at its best. During November its hot and the predators have the upper hand. We follow the pattern of their movements waking up extra early. This is the time for carmine bee-eaterns.
